Location Advantage

The college is situated in one of the most developed cities globally, Shenzhen. Shenzhen is a sub-provincial city under the jurisdiction of Guangdong Province, a planned municipality, and a mega-city. It is the first Chinese Special Economic Zone approved by the State Council, serving as a window to China's reform and opening-up policies and a new immigrant city. Shenzhen is a national economic center, an international city, a hub for technological innovation, a regional financial center, and a center for commerce and logistics. It is also the core city of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, renowned for its "Shenzhen Speed," referred to as the "Silicon Valley of China."


College Overview

   The College of Civil and Transportation Engineering at Shenzhen University currently boasts a faculty of 123 full-time teachers. Among them, there are 3 members of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 1 member of the Japan Academy of Engineering, foreign members of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences, 3 foreign members of the Russian Academy of Engineering, 1 foreign member of the Ukrainian Academy of Engineering, 21 high-level talents recognized at the national level, 3 outstanding teachers from South Guangdong Province, 1 teaching master from Guangdong Province, and 3 "Pengcheng Scholars" in Shenzhen. An impressive 97% of the faculty holds doctoral degrees, with all teachers coming from prestigious universities both domestically and internationally. Furthermore, 76% of the faculty members have experience studying and working abroad.


In the past five years, faculty members of the college have led and participated in over 100 national-level longitudinal projects. These projects include major grants from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Distinguished Youth Science Foundation, the National Excellent Youth Science Foundation, major international collaboration projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, key projects of the National Key Research and Development Program under the Ministry of Science and Technology, and international science and technology cooperation projects between China and Japan under the Ministry of Science and Technology. In 2022, the research team led by Academician Xie Heping published a groundbreaking paper titled "A membrane-based seawater electrolyser for hydrogen generation" in the journal Nature, which was selected as one of the "Top 10 Scientific Advances in China in 2022" and one of the "Top 10 Global Scientific Innovations in 2022." Additionally, faculty members have achieved significant success in serving major engineering projects in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, particularly in Shenzhen. They have overcome numerous technological challenges and contributed to substantial economic and social benefits in projects such as Qianhai Free Trade Zone, Hengqin Free Trade Zone, Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge, Yantian International Container Terminals, Shenzhen Airport, Shenzhen Metro, Shenzhen North Railway Station, National Aquatics Center (Water Cube), and the National Speed Skating Hall. The research achievements have received three second prizes of the National Technical Invention Award, one second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, and the 2021 International Tunneling and Underground Space Association (ITA) Outstanding Achievement Award. In the past five years, faculty and staff of the college have received a total of 21 provincial and ministerial-level special awards and first prizes.


Meet Our Tutors

Heping Xie

Prof. Heping Xie, Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. He is widely recognized for his expertise in the fields of deep earth, deep sea, deep space and green energy fidelity in-site core exploration and testing, geothermal exploration, development, and utilization; low-carbon and seawater hydrogen production technology; frontier technology of moon-based energy resource exploration; and theory and technology of deep solid resource fluidized mining.



Yanliang Du

Prof. Yanliang Du, Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Focusing on major State construction project, such as national high-speed railway, heavy-haul railway and railway in cold plateau zone, he carried out cutting-edge theoretical research, technical innovation and application promotion in structural health monitoring and safety control of long-span bridges, permafrost roadbed, and tunnels.

Xiangsheng Chen

Prof. Xiangsheng Chen, Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, dean of college of civil and transportation engineering, Shenzhen University. His main interests are tunneling, underground engineering, geotechnical engineering, and shaft construction, especially ground freezing technique, ground move control technology and security environment synergism technology for engineering adjacent to subway structure.

Qingquan Li

Prof. Qingquan Li, Academician of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences, Foreign Academician of the Russian Academy of Engineering, is secretary of CPC Party committee of Shenzhen University. His research areas include 3-D and dynamic data modeling in GIS, location-based service, surveying engineering, integration of GIS, Global Positioning System and remote sensing, intelligent transportation system, and urban informatics.

UEDA Tamon

Prof. Tamon UEDA, Academician of the Japanese Academy of Engineering. He is the Immediate Past President of Japan Society of Civil Engineers (JSCE). His main interests are Life management of structures and Sustainable structures, especially damage mechanisms and intervention methods.

                                               

Yong Li

Prof. Yong Li, Foreign Member of Ukrainian Academy of Engineering Sciences, Master of Chinese Steel Structures, Young and Middle-aged Expert with Outstanding Contributions to China, State Council Government Special Allowance Expert, is the Dean of the Bridge Research Institute of Shenzhen University. His main interests are Bridge and Composite Structure Engineering.

Zhixiang Zhou

Prof. Zhixiang Zhou, Foreign member of the Russian Academy of Engineering, the director of China Steel Structure Association and China Building Metal Structure Association. He is the awardee of the commemorative medal of the 70th founding anniversary of the P.R. China and the first batch of national candidates for the New Century Hundred Million Talents Project. His main interests are Structural Behavior and Intelligent Monitoring.
